Surely each of us admired beautiful leather products on which various patterns are wounded. Bags or shoes with embossed, as well as other objects of leather goods - all causes genuine delight. And what if you learn that you can make embossing on the skin with your own hands?
Options, how to do it, quite a lot. It is only necessary to apply the press and a hammer, as well as use the iron. Not so much and difficult, is not it?
Speaking about the technique of embossing, it should be noted that there are two principles of work:
- pressure and heating;
- Only pressure.
Thus, if you want to apply an embossed pattern on the purse, a bag of genuine leather or even on a leather cover for a passport, you can easily do it at home. For the manufacture of various embossed at home, you can purchase special stamps and clichés in a specialized store.
To work, it is best to use thick cow skin with floral tap, it is soft enough and easy to use. However, if you just learn, you can use unnecessary clippings from the leather raincoat, bags or jackets. It is also best to use a special cutting board, preferably homogeneous, without bitch and other damage: they can damage the skin.
Application patterns
So, we are getting closer to the process of embossing, however, first you need to choose one of the three options for applying patterns:
- Blind application is when you apply a drawing with a cliché on a smooth skin surface. Details in this case will be located in the same plane, that is, they will not differ in volume. - Application of patterns with foil. Here it is necessary to have special embossing tools (cliché, for example) and, as clear from the name of the method, Foil. The foil here will be inserted between the skin and the cliché, it gives the decoration of the pattern color. This technology is also called "hot stamping", because it necessarily has heating.

To apply patterns on leather items, it will be enough for you to armared:

The working process
To begin with, we take a piece of unpainted skin and cut out the part we need from it. If the pattern turned out to be shallow, you need to heat the stamp stronger and repeat the procedure. If the skin, on the contrary, falls due to severe heating of the stamp, it is necessary to just cool it. However, it is better to first practice on a trial piece of skin, is it sufficiently heated with a stamp and with what force and how many times you need to hit it with a hammer.
To obtain a color drawing, you need to do everything the same, with the only difference that you need to put a piece of ordinary or multi-colored foil between the stamp and the skin with a melted wax applied to it. So that the wax does not harde it at the first opportunity, you need to add turbid into it. Let's dry, and then apply watercolor or toilet, mixed with egg protein and dental powder. When this layer is dry, heat the stamp, put it on top of the foil and, tightly pressing it to the foil, hit the hammer.
