Comfortable and beautiful knitwear is widely used for all garder items - from linen to outerwear. There is a large number of knitted webs - cotton couliars, woolen jersey, refined microworld, etc., sewing from which allows you to create original and comfortable clothing models with low time and means. Takes of sewing knitted material have its own characteristics, but to master them, even without having special sewing equipment, is completely simple.
Where to begin?
Sewing from any material includes processing its sections and connecting parts. When working with knitwear, the main requirement is to preserve its elasticity in places of compounds (although some seams on the contrary, it is necessary to protect against stretching). The problem may be the appearance of the "running" loops from the cut, to prevent that it is necessary to carefully close the edges (however, no blooming sections are characteristic of the knitted webs).
The easiest way to process the knitted canvas is the use of a knitting hook and threads of the same composition as the main material. So you can process the edges using columns without Caida (Fig. 1)

This method, like the sewing manually, is better to apply for products of small size from not too dense material. In most cases, the processing of knitwear occurs in a machine manner. The first problem that occurs when you try to make a knitted canvas on a regular typewriter, is a loop, or vice versa, breaking the thread and passing stitches . The second unpleasant circumstance, which sometimes arises already in the process of using the sewn things, are holes on the scene of the seams. In order to avoid these troubles, you need to learn three main rules:
- Knitwear (with the exception of dense cotton) you need to sew a special needle with a rounded tip that does not scratching the skin. Jersey's needles are designed for dense, mostly natural fibers, Stretch - for fine synthetic knitwear, SuperStretch - for bifxes, lycra, microwave.
- Elastic seams can be performed only by synthetic polyester or polyamide threads.
- Before starting work, test seams should be made on the flap and in accordance with the result, adjust the foot and tension of the threads. To do this, you need to try to break the line made, and weaken the tension of the thread that broke.

Specialized equipment
For industrial sewing products from knitted materials, special machines are used, equipped with a special rail, adjusting the tension of the fabric when sewing, and a looveller, with which the stitches are performed as a chain or pigtails. This seam can be a multi-meter, it is called relaxing or flat (FlatLock) and is used to connect knitted parts or processing their nose with exposure.
Such a car is quite expensive and is distinguished by a large consumption of threads, which should be wound on special reels. Therefore, those who sew from the case of the case, it is better to take advantage of the usual sewing machine, especially since modern models can perform knitted and stimulatory seams. It is desirable that a zigzag and a line of a dual needle entered the number of functions, but many craftsmen work with knitwear even with the help of an old Zinger.
Types of knitted lines
The easiest view of the seams is the usual line (Fig. 4)
It can be used for weakly stretching materials of medium thickness. When working fabric needs to be tightened by itself, trying not to stretch the allowance. The made seam immediately weaken on both sides.
Universal knitted seam, allowing to preserve the elasticity of any tissue, is a zigzag line (Fig. 5). It is desirable to work with minimal values of the step and the length of the stitches, for the middle thickness, a step 1 mm and a length of 3 mm are usually adjusted. Zigzag sewing without tension, made of seams are trimmed. The edges can be treated with a wider zigzag (step and length - about 5 mm). Combinations of these two seams are enough to sew a model of any complexity from any knitted web. In order for the work to look professional, you can use other varieties of lines.
The lines of the double needle (Fig. 7) is usually used to cover the niza. It is performed by a special dual needle and threads from two coils (fueling first left, then right), while two rows of straight stitches are formed on the front side and zigzag from the shuttle on the wrong one. This line is performed slowly, with a slight tension. It is very elastic and looks like a factory flat seam.
If the sewing machine has a knitted line function (stretch), the problem of obtaining a stretching flat connection is solved very simply.
The same effective is also the edge seam, which allows you to beautifully and reliably process edges, as well as connect the details with the simultaneous treatment of sections.
